Stories From Our Families
Honest reflections from the people who know our care best — the families who have walked this journey with us.

These are words shared by real families who have experienced our care first-hand. We are grateful for their openness.

My mother has been at Solace for just over a year now, and the change in her mood has been remarkable. She used to be quite withdrawn at home, partly because she was alone for long stretches during the day. At Solace, she has company, routine, and people who genuinely care about how she is doing. The staff remember her preferences and check in with me regularly. It has given our whole family peace of mind.

We used the Comfort Care Stay when my father was discharged from hospital after a hip surgery. It was a stressful time and we were not sure what to expect, but the team at Solace handled everything calmly. They adjusted his meals, monitored his recovery closely, and even helped coordinate follow-up appointments. The only reason I am not giving five stars is I wish there had been slightly more flexibility on visiting times for weekends. Overall, a very good experience.

My aunt joined the Mindfulness Programme about three months ago. She had been feeling low after losing her husband, and we wanted her to have a gentle activity to look forward to. She really enjoys the garden walks and the journaling sessions. She tells me the facilitator is patient and kind. It is not a replacement for professional counselling, of course, but it has given her something meaningful in her week.

What impressed me most was how honest the team was from the start. During our first visit, they did not try to oversell anything. They listened to our concerns about my father's dementia, explained what they could and could not do, and gave us time to decide. My father has now been there six months and he seems settled. The carers know his name and his habits, and that matters more than any brochure.

I arranged a two-week Comfort Care Stay for my grandmother while our flat was being renovated. The transition was smoother than I expected. The team took time to learn her dietary needs — she is diabetic — and they were careful with her medication schedule. She did not love being away from home, but she told me the food was good and the staff were kind. That says a lot coming from her.

My parents are both residents at Solace and being able to keep them together was very important to us. The team understood that from the beginning and arranged for them to share connecting rooms. They eat together, walk together, and still have their own space when they need it. The care has been consistent, and the family updates we receive are genuinely helpful — not generic.

Care Journeys
A closer look at how our services have helped families navigate moments of change and uncertainty.
From Hospital to Stability
The Situation
Mrs. Ong, 82, was discharged after a stroke. Her family needed a safe environment while they arranged longer-term support at home.
How We Helped
A four-week Comfort Care Stay with physiotherapy coordination, medication management, and daily monitoring. Her care team provided detailed notes to her family doctor throughout.
The Outcome
Mrs. Ong's mobility improved noticeably during her stay. She returned home with a care plan her family felt confident about, and her doctor remarked on her steady progress.
Finding Community After Loss
The Situation
Mr. Goh, 76, had been living alone following the passing of his wife. His children noticed he was becoming increasingly isolated and disengaged.
How We Helped
He joined the Mindfulness & Wellbeing Programme. Over three months, the structured sessions, garden walks, and group activities gave him a consistent social connection and sense of purpose.
The Outcome
His family noticed he began looking forward to his mornings at Solace. He formed friendships with other participants and his general outlook brightened. He continues to attend.
A Gentler Transition
The Situation
Mdm. Tan, 88, was living with her daughter, but her care needs had grown beyond what the family could manage at home, especially overnight.
How We Helped
She began with a two-week Comfort Care Stay to see how she felt. The team worked closely with her daughter to maintain familiar routines — her favourite teas, her evening reading habit, and the music she enjoys.
The Outcome
After the trial period, Mdm. Tan chose to stay on as a full-time resident. Her daughter visits several times a week and says the transition was far smoother than she had feared.
